but we have the same last name

My cousin Hannah and I have a strange relationship. We’re very close, but we rarely spend time together. We never have! To this day I don’t understand how we’ve managed to relate to one another (even from a young age) for all these years without actually hanging out all that much. I think I love her more because of it. That, and I find it amusing to call her my ‘white’ cousin.

Yesterday I was doing my usual FB scour when Hannah started messaging me. She’s a life hustler like me, and is incredibly busy with learning, working part time, uni-ing, dealing with boyfie issues and, as I discovered, controlling Adelaide’s new online mag for blogging enthusiasts. But not just any blogging enthusiast; students and ex-students looking for work in their desired industry. And of course that are into all the fun stuff like music, arts, fashion, poetry, video. In the past year I’ve learned more about Hannah than I’ve known in the past twenty one years…and I’m not going to lie, I’m impressed but equally intimidated! We like the same music, have stupid humour, love to travel, can be considered hipsters that sometimes have boyish qualities, and evidently new found love for social media. That’s why she’s started this whole initiative, which is already a whole lot more that I’ve ever done.

But back to my story – when she FB’d me I was eager to get into a D&M about boyfriends because she is in a similar sitch to me (hers is from Canada. CANADA.). But, apparently she had other things on her mind…like recruiting me to blog for her new magazine. First thing I did was obviously check out the site - http://thesideproject.me/. For a start up project it’s lookin’ pretty damn fine to me! I asked her things like: Do I have to blog about factual stuff? Why is there no music tab? Can I write about random experiences that are completely irrelevant to creatives? It didn’t take long before I started to get excited about all the things I can write about, so I told her ofc I’ll blog for TSP. Hello delicious music posts! #keenasabean

I think she’s pretty stoked too.

It could have been the fact that I was burning the midnight oil last night, but for some odd reason I had a mental conversation with myself about how confusing it will be because of our identical last names on the website.

Wake up Marie, no one gives a shit.

If you’re bored and surfing the net, you should definitely check it out. Worth a read, and if you’re game it’s worth contributing!
